The 3BL Media video team was on location at the 2012 VolunteerMatch Client Summit to capture footage and insights from the annual event. This series of videos captures comments from thought leaders and practitioners about effective community involvement programs.

In our eyes, Karen Baker is one of the guiding lights for volunteering and community engagement. As the first-in-the-nation state cabinet Secretary of Service and Volunteering, and as the leader of CaliforniaVolunteers, she is living proof of the impact that can be achieved with real investment in volunteering and service.

In this video she shares why she enjoys attending the VolunteerMatch Client Summit, describing the conferences each year as “monumental moments,” when professionals can really get their hands around emerging issues and best practices in the fields of CSR and employee volunteering.

As Karen says, the VolunteerMatch Client Summit is a time for people to ask themselves and each other, “Where do we want to go, as a field and as a movement?”

Karen also describes the keynote panel she moderated at the 2012 VolunteerMatch Client Summit in San Francisco, showcasing various technology solutions for the giving and volunteering space.

Finally, Karen also explains what distinguishes VolunteerMatch from other vendors and thought leaders in the giving and volunteering world. Thanks, Karen, we think you’re special, too.
