Campaign: Action Team
Last weekend marked the beginning of a busy holiday season for Action Team Captains across the United States. Staying true to the nature of Thanksgiving, our Captains were hard at work giving back to those in need.   Captains from Poland Regional High School in Maine hosted a food distribution event where they filled 200 bags with groceries to be used for Thanksgiving dinners for the less fortunate in their community. Earlier in the month, the same teens delivered painted pumpkins to local veterans residing at Volunteers of America’s (VOA) South Paris Home.   A few hundred miles south of Maine, Action Team Captains from the Virginia and D.C. areas participated in a local food distribution event of their own. HB Woodlawn and St. Stephen & St. Agnes Action Teams joined with Arlington Food Assistance Program to provide supplemental groceries to their neighbors in need. Earlier in the week Captains from St. Stephens & St. Agnes assisted at their school’s annual “Saintsgiving” event making sandwiches for the less fortunate. Each year, “Saintsgiving” is hosted by Martha’s Table — a non-profit focusing on developing sustainable solutions to poverty in the D.C. area.   Over on the west coast, Action Team Captains from Seattle participated in VOA’s “Stuff a Bus” toy drive event. Together, the Team Captains collected enough stuffed animals, toys and clothes to fill an entire bus!   Action Team Captains everywhere are getting into the holiday spirit, by giving of themselves to help brighten the days of others around them. For that, we’re all thankful.   To see additional photos from these events (and others) visit our gallery.   Keep tabs on the Action Team by checking out our calendar of events, by following us on Twitter and Instagram and liking us on Facebook.
