Epsilon Makes $350,000 Gift to Support Children’s Health and Development in Boston

Gifts Expand on Associates’ Passion for Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield and Introduces New Partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital

Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 – Epsilon, an Alliance Data company that is a global marketing leader in creating connections between people and brands, recently announced two gifts totaling $350,000 in honor of its Boston-area associates to the Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield and the Boston Children’s Hospital. 

“Earlier this year, Epsilon associates shared with the company what causes and organizations meant the most to them. Overwhelmingly, the response was children’s health and well-being, which is just one of the many reasons these organizations were selected as beneficiaries,” shared Wayne Townsend, president, technology at Epsilon. “Our nearly 700 Boston-area associates are passionate about giving back to the local community and these gifts are just one way we support the Boston-area nonprofit organizations our associates believe in.” 

Associates’ passion for Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield inspired the financial contribution to the organization. This gift will fund the modernization of their Teen Room, a space created to keep teens off the streets between 2-6 p.m. when data shows that’s when their most susceptible to acting out. Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield will create a Digital Arts Center, and build a fully functioning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Laboratory. These updates will allow teens to learn everything from basic construction to more advanced engineering skills such as robotics.

As the company also looks to grow its support of children’s hospitals serving the communities where its associates work and live, the support of Boston Children’s Hospital, the second-largest children’s hospital in the country, was a natural fit.

This gift will fund an immediate need for weekend Child Life support staff (because medical emergencies don’t just happen Monday – Friday). Weekend services include bereavement education, full-family support, timely referrals to therapy programs, and much more. Services like this are distinct to Children’s hospitals, and are crucial to patient and family well-being as they help give patients, their siblings and other family members both comfort and distraction from the seriousness of their illness and treatment.
