This advanced gasification plant at our Owego, New York, facility will generate 250 kW of power for the facility by converting waste wood into clean energy.

Lockheed Martin’s 2015 Sustainability Report details how we manage and achieve progress in Product Performance. Our objective is to innovate to deliver optimal economic and performance value over the life cycle of our products. Our focus on performance and sustainability ensures safe, reliable, affordable products that support our customers’ missions of national security, citizen services and sustainable development.

For example:

  • Our space-based, security and cyber technologies provide enhanced preparedness for extreme weather events, and protect critical infrastructure with better accuracy and greater reliability.
  • Our alternative energy generation expands access to low- and zero-carbon energy at utility scale. The U.S. demonstration site for our 250-kilowatt advanced gasification plant will become fully operational in June 2016.
  • In 2015, our commercial energy efficiency programs saved electric and gas utility customers more than 1.5 billion kilowatt-hours of energy, or about 1,034,327 MTCO2e. The carbon emissions avoidance we provided our commercial customers is equivalent to 89% of our scope 1 and 2 emissions from business operations.
