When Another Door Opens. And How to Open It.

How often do you think about opening a door? It is such a natural action, that the thought has probably hardly ever crossed your mind. But in today’s world, one characterized by social distancing and the need to keep every surface clean, door handles are looming front and center – after all – they are points in the home, in our places of work and in our communities that are used by a wide number of people every day.

This was a challenge which occupied the minds of FPT Industrial’s engineers at the Brand’s Driveline Plant in Turin, northern Italy. In order to support colleagues during the return to work process, the engineering department made use of their advanced 3D printing technology to manufacture a simple device which enables the user to open doors without even having to touch them. What’s more, thanks to the simple, but ingenious design, these devices are personal, which inhibits the spread of infection.

So, as the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. Or, in this case, when one door closes, you have a new way of opening it.
