Whirlpool Corporation: Why Composting Matters

Whirlpool Corporation knows the impact of taking steps toward sustainability. On Learn About Composting Day, Whirlpool Corporation celebrates the initiative to support composting at its Global Leadership Center, which defers 23 tons of waste from going to a landfill.*  

This effort is just one of many made Whirlpool Corporation’s 46 year commitment to sustainability. In 1970, Whirlpool Corporation became the first home appliance manufacturer to open an office of environmental control. We have been leading the industry in sustainable initiatives ever since. With a zero waste to landfill goal for all global manufacturing facilities, the company is minimizing the impact of its operations on the world’s environment. In the U.S., Whirlpool Corporation is implementing programs to move toward zero waste to landfill from manufacturing plants; in addition, three of the company’s four plants in Brazil have already achieved zero waste to landfill status.
