At CBS EcoMedia Inc., we have a vision: To harness the power of advertising and channel it into tangible social change.
Since the founding of the company in 2002, our team has worked tirelessly to develop and hone an advertising model that would transform this ideal into reality.
It was with great pride that in 2011 and 2012, we launched our EcoAd, WellnessAd, and EducationAd programs. These unique product offerings are based onour patent-pending ad model through which our clients, in collaboration with our wide network of non-profit partners, providefinancial support for critical,yet underfunded, environmental, health, and education projects in communities nationwide.
Through their brand loyalty, viewers are turned into volunteers with the power to help create real, meaningful improvements in their own neighborhoods - a transformation which profoundly alters the conversation between consumer and advertiser, and makes our EcoAd, WellnessAd, and EducationAd programs advertising industry game-changers.
With the companys 2010 acquisition by CBS, we exponentially scaled our reach. EcoMedia is now proud to offer our clients the opportunity to communicate their messages across all CBS platforms - national television, local television, radio, outdoor, and interactive.
Were honored and gratified to have been recognized for our work in social enterprise. In 2009, we received the United States Conference of Mayors Excellence in Public/Private Partnerships Award. In 2012, we were an Edison Award winner for social innovation.

New Video: Solar PV System Now Powering Athletic Field Concession Building At Manhasset Secondary School Sports Stadium
In this new video from the EcoMedia production team you'll discover how our innovative and unique EcoAd advertising program made it possible for Winthrop-University Hospital and Arrow Exterminating to help improve life in their own community by funding the brand new solar PV system now installed on the athletic field consession building at Manhasset Secondary School. The system uses the power of the sun to generate clean, renewable power for the school and the community. Excess electricity produced by the solar system that is not used by the school is fed back into the power grid helping to green it.
The new solar PV system will generate an average of over 7,300 kWh of electricity per year and cut carbon dioxide emissions from the school by over 13,870 lbs. annually. The CO2 emission reductions from the concession building’s solar system will not only cut greenhouse gas production they will also have the same environmental impact as planting more than 850 trees over the lifetime of the system. The solar system is part of a $3,304,242 Manhasset School District-wide renewable energy and energy efficiency overhaul.
About Manhasset Secondary School
The Manhasset School District is unique in that the school system is large enough to provide exceptional financial resources, variety in its educational programs and multiple professional services for all its students – yet it is small enough to emphasize the individual and special needs of all its students. The possibility of combining the best qualities of suburban and urban living has attracted a large number of residents from the managerial and professional classes and their personal and financial support of the school district is evidenced by the excellent educational and extracurricular programs available to the students. District enrollment as of September 2012 is approximately 3,295 students.
There are two K-6 elementary schools (Munsey Park School and Shelter Rock School), and a Secondary School, which houses the Manhasset Middle School, 7-8, and Manhasset High School, 9-12.
Manhasset High School, grades 9-12, has a current enrollment of approximately 1003 students, 264 of whom are members of the class of 2013. The program of study offered is outstanding in preparing students to make the transition to, and meet the demands of, college level academic work or other further study.
As of June 2012, 80% of our seniors sat for one or more Advanced Placement courses. Approximately 80% of the student body participates in one of our more than 65 clubs, performance groups or athletic teams. 94% of the 218 members of the Class of 2012 continued their education. Of that number, 96% entered four-year colleges and universities and 4 % entered two-year colleges.
The District’s’ K-12 rigorous, innovative academic program is aimed at helping each student reach his or her full potential. The District is fortunate to be able to achieve this goal while maintaining one of the lowest school residential property tax rates in Nassau County.
About Winthrop-University Hospital
Founded in 1896 by a group of local physicians and concerned citizens, Long Island's first voluntary hospital is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center and New York State-designated Regional Trauma Center which offers sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care in virtually every specialty and subspecialty of medicine and surgery. Winthrop-University Hospital is a major regional healthcare resource with a deep commitment to medical education and research, offering a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services.
In 2010, Winthrop provided inpatient care for 33,082 men, women, and children. There were over 66,000 emergency visits and 4,632 childbirths logged for the year. More than 3,802 electrophysiology procedures and 4,892 cardiac catheterizations were performed. Over 18,500 surgical procedures were completed, including 458 open-heart operations. Winthrop's certified Home Health Agency and its Long Term Homecare Program provided over 121,000 visits to community residents.
The Hospital employs 6,000 dedicated and caring individuals, including nearly 1,500 nurses and 1,525 full-time and voluntary attending medical staff. Winthrop offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient programs and services for the newborn through the elderly, primarily from Nassau, Suffolk and Queens Counties on Long Island, in a dynamic, progressive environment.

Arrow Exterminating has been serving Long Islanders and New Yorkers for more than sixty years—since Bernard Stegman founded the company in 1947. Now under the management of his daughters; Jackie Grabin and Debby Tappan, Arrow is one of the largest pest control companies in the New York metropolitan area. The company has grown to employ more than 100 people, and to be one of the most successful pest control firms in the New York area. Clients have included the Long Island Rail Road, the state Department of Transportation and the U.S. Postal Service.
