More Companies Team Up for Political Purpose

In the latest example of companies joining together for political action, a coalition has been formed to “upgrade” government. DisruptDC, a non-partisan alliance, has released an open letter from 30 business leaders, “Upgrading American Government: It’s Not Rocket Science,” that presents their vision of “better” government. It links better government to a more competitive, innovative business climate. Proposals include making elections competitive, aligning incentives in policymaking, and upgrading government technology. Among the signees are founders and CEOs of smaller investment firms and tech companies. Their initiative joins other efforts to show that US business, from Fortune 500 corporations to startups, is actively engaged in arguing for political change.
