About David:	Mr. Schacht is Executive Director at Amigos of Costa Rica, a Social Investment Promotion Agency with a mandate to unleash Costa Rica’s full potential by providing both Costa Rica and the World with successful, innovative and inspirational solutions to shared environmental, educational, scientific, technological, and economic challenges. Mr. Schacht’s areas of expertise include corporate social responsibility, public-private partnerships, trade capacity building, transportation and logistics competitiveness, international marketing strategy, the design and implementation of civil society outreach programs to achieve economic and social development goals, market-based research and the identification and dissemination of best practices. Recent speaking engagements include the GPK Forum on Social Entrepreneurship, and the Wharton Africa Business Forum.<br /> <br /> David is an avid social entrepreneur, with over twelve years experience in international business and market strategy consulting in North American, European, Latin American and African markets. Prior to joining Amigos of Costa Rica, David was Vice President of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships and Latin America at CARANA Corporation, In this capacity, he led the development of the CARANA’s practice in “market linkages” – linking entrepreneurs in developing economies to developed market value chains. <br /> <br /> Before joining CARANA, Mr. Schacht advised Fortune 500 companies on best practices in global sourcing, supply chain management and international marketing strategy. In this capacity, he managed senior relationships with 100+ leading North American and European multinationals and was frequently invited to speak on best practice implementation and organizational strategy. Mr. Schacht holds a Master of Arts with Distinction from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in International Economics, Latin American and Emerging Markets Studies and a BA in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Chicago. He recently served on the Advisory Board of the Bologna Center of The Johns Hopkins University, a leading graduate school of international relations in Europe. He is fluent in French, Spanish, and Portuguese, and is conversant in Italian.
