I am originally from India, and I have lived in Kuwait and India, before moving to Canada to study engineering. Even while acquiring my degree, I enjoyed multi-tasking (taking on different roles), traveling and learning about the different cultures, political and business environments in these countries.
I have worked in the private sector for 5 years as a Business consultant and researcher, while volunteering with Engineers without Borders. I took this time to learn about the different social and environment issues, and how we can each play a role to overcome them. My last assignment took me to Honduras for 8 months, assisting the NGO there, to develop and deliver a micro-enterprise project to people with disabilities.
I am passionate about CSR because I believe businesses can reduce their negative impacts and increase their positive impact. There are few who are champions and leaders, and we need to recognize those champions and their work, to demonstrate that businesses can make a positive difference in the world.
What kind of positive change do you want to create in the world over the next 12 months?:
I want to work with a business, or an NGO that supports businesses, bring about positive social change.
