| About Gary: |
For the entirety of my professional career, I've been fascinated by how new things come into the world. Over the past several years, my role has shifted from that of a participant/practitioner (technologist, R&D executive) to one where my primary interests are in helping individuals and teams to accomplish and sustain positive change in life, in the workplace, or in the marketplace. At this point in my career, I have a particular interest in working with individuals and organizations that attempt directly to create positive change.
As a coach, I work collaboratively with science, technology, medical, and other professionals - individual contributors or executives - facing challenges in workplace effectiveness, career transition, work-life balance, personal renewal, or response to major life events. As a consultant, my specialty is multidisciplinary innovation, including individual and team capabilities, organization structure and culture, and technology/business strategy.
I bring to my practice more than 20 years of experience in the creation and leadership of innovative, strategically significant programs in the telecommunications and computer industries, both within the United States and internationally. In this work, I've hired, supervised, and mentored scores of talented professionals pursuing organizational and individual excellence, as well as personal satisfaction. In addition to my years of experience as a practitioner and line manager, I've added further study and training in the human systems elements of change at the individual and organizational level.
I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Duke University, where I received BSE and PhD degrees in electrical engineering, followed by post-doctoral training in psychology at Duke's Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. I am both a Certified Hudson Institute Coach and a certified Strozzi Institute Somatic Coach. |
