In the short-term, I am devoting 2 years to business development work in francophone Africa. I hope to make a tangible difference there, but also to learn about economies and parts of the world with which I am currently unfamiliar. After, I hope to apply what I have learned in a context where I can create positive change on a larger scale. Long-term, I am interested in technology transfers to developing countries, possibly in terms of infrastructure and renewable energy, although a lot can change in 2 years and possibly other opportunities will arise by that time.
What kind of positive change do you want to create in the world over the next 12 months?:
In the next 12 months I want to create sustainable change in West Africa through promotion of good business practices and expansion of local economic bases. Much can be done in developing countries with only a fraction of the resources necessary in the developed world, and opportunities abound in areas such as renewable energy, which can improve quality of life in developing countries while helping businesses in developed countries to offset their emissions. This is just one example of the change I hope to accomplish. History has shown that economic progress correlates with improved quality of life among the general population; thus, I feel this is a good starting point, and the plethora of programs available to developing countries creates lots of opportunities for sustainable, responsible development.
