I am a leader and a farmer. I was raised and worked on the family produce farm; family owned and operated since its establishment in 1921. On the farm, I was responsible for crop maintenance, harvest and selling of produce and general property upkeep. I have been dedicated to the farm since the age of eleven until my commissioning into the Army in January of 2002. I attended the University of Connecticut where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resource Management as well as an Associates of Applied Science in Horticulture. I have knowledge in soil composition, greenhouse and field operations and commercial produce sales. In 1999, while attending the University I joined the ROTC program and the Connecticut National Guard. In the spring of 2000, I attended basic training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina; I returned to the University for the fall semester. In the summer of 2001, I attended Advance Camp for ROTC at Ft. Lewis, Washington, again returning to the University of Connecticut for the fall semester and until my graduation and commissioning in Dec of 2001. In January of 2002, I attended more military training at Ft. Benning, Georgia with follow on Chemical Officer training at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. I am highly trained in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear warfare. I have trained over 420 soldiers in the use of WMD detection, decontamination, use of personal protective equipment and built decontamination plans and routes while stationed in Germany and Iraq. Upon completion of my training at Ft. Leonardwood, I received orders to Storck Barracks, Illesheim Germany, where I was stationed for my entire career from 2002 through 2005. During that time, I was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. While stationed in Germany, I traveled throughout most of Europe, and various outlying countries to include Africa. In July of 2005, I was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to my family farm in Connecticut. In May of 2006, I got married and moved back to Germany for six months, then came stateside and moved down to Alabama for another six months. While in Alabama, I worked for a commercial paint crew. In May of 2007, I moved cross country to Boise, Idaho and became employed with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game as a Wildlife Research Field Technician where I have gained the knowledge and capabilities in using GPS/GIS equipment, radio telemetry equipment, have extensive knowledge in trapping large game, falcons and conducting animal site surveys for population estimates. In May of this year, I am moving back to Connecticut to seek long term employment. I welcome a challenge, responsibility and a high op- tempo environment. I am a strong and efficient communicator in high op-tempo environments, goal oriented and an aggressive leader as well as instructor. I harbor a strong work ethic and competitive nature with that I have extensive knowledge of farming and multi cultural agricultural and social practices, comprehensive understanding of state and federal conservation practices and politics.
