Hunter Lovins Interviewed for SRI in the Rockies
|
In this podcast with First Affirmative President, Steve Schueth, L. Hunter Lovins, founder and President of Natural Capitalism Solutions, discusses how innovation around green technology is the key to a dynamic growing industrial economy and shares insight from her experiences working all over the world to make this a reality. On corporate responsibility, Hunter says, “We now have 15 separate studies from the sorts of wild eyed environmental radicals like Goldman Sachs and McKinsey showing that the companies that are the leaders in environment, social, and good governance policy have 25 percent higher stock value, the fastest growing stock value, are well protected from value erosion even after the collapse, and even after the collapse have market capitalization averaging $650 million more than their competitors. Conversely, the worst performing companies are most likely to have nobody in charge of sustainability.” She also talks about where Walmart falls on this corporate responsibility continuum as they work to become a leader in sustainability, and the impact that socially conscious investors have had on corporate views of sustainability. Hunter will be speaking at the 20th annual SRI in the Rockies Conference in Tucson, Arizona on October 27th. |
