NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 7, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Allstate Insurance Company is the 2016 Corporate Citizen of the Year, topping a record number of nominees to take home the coveted annual award from The Executives’ Club of Chicago. The company was honored for the impact its youth empowerment programs had on Chicagoland youth in 2015.

The award is given each year to a company or individual whose commitment in areas such as the environment, education, veterans’ initiatives, workforce development or governance have made a difference in the Chicagoland area. Announced last week at The Executives’ Club’s Annual Awards and Global Leaders Luncheon, Allstate was honored for its Good Starts Young youth empowerment initiative.

“Everything we do at Allstate is done with the purpose of helping people live a good life every day,” said Vicky Dinges, senior vice president, corporate responsibility, Allstate. “Our belief that good starts young is about more than Allstate doing good. It’s about preparing our next generation of leaders with the strength, confidence and skills to create positive change in the world. We’re proud of our achievements in 2015, and we’re confident that we’ll do even more in the coming years.”

A panel of judges chose Allstate over approximately 50 other nominees to win the award, which is in its fourth year. Allstate was recognized for its youth empowerment programs, such as They Say Project and Youth Shout Out, as well as its partnerships with Get IN Chicago, WE Day, Facing History and Ourselves, Junior Achievement, Chicago Urban League, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, Mikva Challenge, Urban Initiatives, and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, among numerous others.

“For the past several years, The Executives’ Club of Chicago has recognized an individual or company that serves as a model for social responsibility as demonstrated through outstanding contributions to the Chicagoland community. We are very pleased that the judges panel selected Allstate as the 2016 Corporate Citizen,” said Ana Dutra, president and CEO, The Executives’ Club of Chicago. “Through its Good Starts Young social impact initiative in Chicago, Allstate has demonstrated its leadership in supporting the youth of Chicago and their commitment to empowering future generations to stand up for themselves and others.”

In 2015 alone, Allstate supported more than 70 local nonprofits and reached more than 500,000 Chicago youth, providing them with resources and programs to help them advance academically, prepare to enter the 21st century workforce, and address pressing social and global issues, such as youth violence, homelessness and hunger.
