SEATTLE, April 19, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The International Living Future Institute (ILFI) announced today that Anthony Guerrero, Director of Sustainability at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), will join the ILFI’s Board of Directors. Guerrero leads the development of sustainability strategies for NRDC’s core operations, and has already instituted Living Building Challenge (LBC) principles into his projects. Under his leadership, NRDC achieved LBC Petal Certifications for its Chicago and Beijing offices, and is pursuing certification for its newest expansions in Chicago and San Francisco.

“Anthony’s experience championing regenerative building practices to large-scale projects coupled with his commitment to diversifying the sustainability movement brings an exceptional perspective to ILFI’s leadership team,” said Amanda Sturgeon, CEO of the International Living Future Institute.

Last year, the ILFI awarded Guerrero with a “Living Building Challenge Hero” award, recognizing his pioneering work to restructure the built environment around ecological principles.

“The Institute is in the vanguard of the sustainability movement, driving innovation and solutions that have the potential to transform our world, said Anthony Guerrero. I’m both honored and excited to join the ILFI board and look forward to working with them to advance their vision.”

Under Guerrero’s leadership, the NRDC received the 2015 “Distinguished Environmental Company of the Year” award from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).

Prior to joining NRDC, Guerrero led operations for Oprah Winfrey and Gerry Laybourne at Oxygen Media. He began his operations career with Barry Diller’s InterActiveCorp (IAC) and has served in the United States Marine Corps.

In his personal life, Guerrero is committed to creating diversity in the environmental community. His experience promoting social equity and financially viable sustainability mechanics will be a boon to the Board for years to come.
