Atlantic Copper, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Awards 35 Educational Scholarships Through its Foundation

June 9, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Atlantic Copper, a subsidiary of Freeport-McMoRan, operates a copper smelting and refining complex in Huelva, Spain. 

The Atlantic Copper Foundation recently awarded 35 academic scholarships to help students fulfil their educational goals at the University of Huelva.

Scholarships were given to students pursuing bachelor and master's degrees in various fields, including early childhood education, engineering and environmental science.

The program was developed by the Atlantic Copper Foundation in conjunction with the University of Huelva in 2009 to encourage and support local students with financial need who demonstrate academic excellence. To date, it has awarded 90 scholarships totaling approximately $125,000.

Scholarship funds can be used to help with school registration and other expenses, such as course materials and housing.
