OVERLAND PARK, Kan., January 7, 2021 /3BL Media/ – The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) has named Charysse Knotts a fellow and is inducting her into its Academy of Fellows, citing her more than 18 years of active service and dedication to the organization, both regionally and nationwide.

Founded a quarter century ago, the academy honors, recognizes and acknowledges professionals for their outstanding service to the society and to the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. The recognition of Knotts, whose nomination included endorsements from the society’s fellows and members, acknowledges her considerable contributions to SAME.

With more than 35 years in the AEC industry, Germany-based Knotts has managed operations, programs and teams to execute planning, design and construction projects. A licensed professional engineer in Texas, she is LEED-accredited and as a project management professional is known for her reputation in ethics, safety and quality throughout her career, providing the federal government with effective solutions to complex problems.

Having been involved with SAME since 1990, Knotts has served in various volunteer leadership positions, including Rhein-Main Air Base post president, vice president, vice president for outreach and communications, and website manager. She also is serving as the Europe vice chair for the International Community of Interest (COI).  She was instrumental in reviving the Rhein-Main post after significant decline in 2017, two years before she presented the Rhein-Main Revival story at the Post Leaders Workshop.

“I am passionate about the value that SAME offers to both government and industry partners and about how I can contribute value to the society for the future,” Knotts said. “I am honored to receive this award.”

“Our entire federal team is thrilled with Charysse’s SAME Fellow nomination – the highest individual recognition given by SAME,” said Randy Castro, president of Black & Veatch’s federal business. “Black & Veatch’s partnership with SAME provides us a greater opportunity for collaboration between government and industry.”

“Charysse has always been a passionate leader within SAME, and we are proud that she is serving as a post president,” Castro added. “This nomination recognizes her contributions as well as her ongoing commitment to SAME, bringing great pride to our entire Black & Veatch federal team.”

An Investiture will be held virtually in May to welcome and honor Knotts as a member of the 2021 class of Academy of Fellows.
