NEW YORK, October 7, 2014 /3BL Media/ — BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, has been named to CDP's S&P 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index 2014 (CDLI) and its S&P 500 Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014 (CPLI). For the second consecutive year, BNY Mellon has received perfect scores on both climate change disclosure and performance. The company’s "A" for performance and score of 100 for disclosure make it the only U.S. financial company and one of only two S&P 500 companies to achieve the top score two years in a row. CDP is the world's only global environmental disclosure system.

BNY Mellon voluntarily reports progress to CDP. The disclosure and performance scores reflect BNY Mellon’s management of corporate greenhouse gas emissions, progress toward emission reduction goals and assessment of potential risks and opportunities associated with climate change.

“We’re proud that our leadership in climate change accountability has been so strongly recognized by CDP for a second year in a row. Our score is a result of our team’s commitment to sustaining and enhancing performance and disclosure excellence, as we seek to positively impact our communities and market integrity through environmentally sustainable practices,” said Richard Brueckner, BNY Mellon's chief of staff.

BNY Mellon’s recognition by CDP’s CDLI and CPLI comes on the heels of the company being named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and, for the second consecutive year, to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index (DJSI North America). CDP’s indices highlight those S&P 500 companies that have displayed a strong approach to the disclosure of information regarding climate change. For disclosure, companies are scored out of a possible 100 on the completeness and standard of their submissions. The minimum score to become part of the CDLI continues to be 97. Since 2011, CDP also assigns a performance band to companies scoring above 50 on disclosure. The A to E bands reflect a company’s self-reported level of action on climate change mitigation, adaptation and transparency.
