Carnival Cruise Line Brings Its Signature Brand of Fun to the FedEx St. Jude Classic Golf Tournament
July 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Carnival Cruise Line’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® extended to the links with the line’s sponsorship of the FedEx St. Jude Classic, an annual PGA-sanctioned golf tournament held in at the TPC Southwind course in Memphis, Tenn., the hospital’s hometown.
As a sponsor of the tournament, Carnival hosted a number of fun activities, including the popular Little Loopers event that provided St. Jude kids an opportunity to interact with PGA TOUR professionals and celebrities. Held at the par 3 11th hole, the kids had a chance to learn how to putt, chip and drive from the world’s best golfers amidst a backdrop that resembled a miniature golf course aboard a Carnival ship.
Carnival also hosted a post-event ice cream party where kids could enjoy scoops of Brownie Buoy, the ice cream flavor selected by patients at St. Jude to be sold in the Cherry On Top sweets store aboard the new Carnival Vista which entered service in Europe last month. All profits from the sale of Brownie Buoy purchased on-board Carnival Vista benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Carnival also presented St. Jude with a $20,000 check representing its sponsorship fee.
Carnival’s sponsorship of the tournament continues the line’s longstanding partnership with St. Jude which began in 2010. In addition to serving as the Official Celebration Partner of St. Jude hosting birthday parties and the hospital’s annual prom, the cruise line conducts a variety of shipboard activities as part of its Care to Play: Carnival for St. Jude Kids program, including a fun dance activity called Groove for St. Jude. Additionally, when guests purchase a designated bakery item from the line’s on-board shops or prior to their cruise on carnival.com, Carnival donates a portion of each item sold to the hospital. Carnival has already donated $10 million to St. Jude since the partnership began in 2010.
