Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose, Tata Consultancy Services, and PYXERA Global: Narrowing the Digital Gender Gap

NEW YORK, December 2, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Over 90 percent of jobs worldwide have a digital component, yet a large digital gender gap persists. Women are disproportionally impacted by the digital divide because they are underrepresented in technology and digital industries which make up a large portion of the fast growing, profitable careers that are available today, further exacerbating existing social inequalities. Additionally, women often have limited access and exposure to technology and digital devices and must contend with issues of online safety, and other barriers.

Solutions to bridge the digital divide, including investments in infrastructure and affordability, are vital to overcome systemic inequities already setting global populations on starkly different paths. Additionally, we must accelerate the focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) to overcome the digital gender gap and it requires a collaborative effort between governments, the private sector, and communities.
