April 11, 2019 /3BL Media/ — Common Impact, a national nonprofit leader for skills-based volunteerism, has announced the appointment of Wes Moe as director of consulting. The addition of Moe to the organization’s leadership team comes with Common Impact’s continuing expansion as the demand for pro bono service, corporate social responsibility and employee engagement grows. Reporting to COO Tara Cardone, Moe will manage and grow Common Impact’s skills-based volunteer programs, oversee the consulting team and partner with the organization’s cross-sector clients.

Moe joins Common Impact after serving as consultant at the Volunteer Groups Alliance where he was the liaison between the United Nations and the global volunteer sector, ensuring volunteerism was recognized and supported worldwide. Previously, Moe was Chief Program Officer at New York Cares, where he was responsible for volunteer programs that supported more than 1,100 nonprofits and engaged 52,000 volunteers, nearly 16,000 of which came from local companies in New York City. He also served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Jordan and an AmeriCorps NCCC member.

“Wes brings a wealth of knowledge of volunteerism and the nonprofit landscape to the organization,” said Gary Bagley, Executive Director, New York Cares. “He has deep experience in developing meaningful corporate and individual volunteer experiences for the public and social sector and will be able to directly apply his expertise to build out new cross-sector programs for Common Impact that can help address the social sector capacity gap.”

Moe’s appointment comes at a time when both the need for and interest in pro bono service is rising. According to the latest edition of CECP’s Giving in Numbers, more than 50 percent of companies now offer skills-based volunteer programs to complement traditional direct service and philanthropy programs. Additionally, Common Impact research indicates that nonprofits spend just 2 percent of their overall budget on core business functions, compared to an average spend of 35 percent in the corporate sector.

“We are thrilled to welcome Wes as our new Director of Consulting,” said Cardone. “He is an accomplished leader with diverse nonprofit experience who brings to the team an impressive track record of bridging the corporate and nonprofit sectors to effect social change.”

Moe holds an M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management from Baruch College and a B.A. in Sociology from Loyola University in Maryland. He is based in Common Impact’s headquarters in Brooklyn, NY.
