HanesBrands has announced that the company and its employees have raised $2.6 million for the United Way of Forsyth County, North Carolina, exceeding the $2 million goal for its 2010 year-end campaign. HanesBrands’ 300 headquarters employees also volunteered for a day of work at seven area United Way beneficiaries. Hanes’ 2,500 employees have been the largest corporate contributors to the United Way of Forsyth County for the last decade, donating more than $23 million to support community agencies and programs.

The mGive Foundation has joined with the Pew Research Center to contribute to a study by Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society. The study will survey people who donated to Haiti relief campaigns through mobile giving, raising more than $41 million for disaster aid. The Berkman Center will use the Haiti case to examine the impact of new digital tools on charitable giving.
