MIDLAND, Mich., March 8, 2021 /3BL Media/ – Dow (NYSE: DOW) is honored to join Jaguar Racing this season as the team’s Official Materials Science Partner. On Saturday, Dow ambassador and Jaguar Racing driver Sam Bird won the second race of Season 7 as part of a double header in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Bird’s teammate Mitch Evans took third place to make the podium at the first race of the season the previous night. Jaguar Racing now leads the ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Championship by four points.

Jaguar Racing announced last year that Dow was joining the team as an Official Partner, bringing over 100 years of automotive experience and pioneering materials science expertise through Dow’s MobilityScience™ platform focused on application development and innovation in transportation. It was also announced last year that Bird was leaving Envision Virgin Racing to join Jaguar Racing this season. This is Bird’s tenth win and first with Jaguar Racing as he retains his streak as the only driver to have won a race in every Formula E season.

“I’m incredibly happy to bring home my first win for the Jaguar Racing Formula E Team, and I’m so thrilled to have Dow on the grid with me for my first season with Jaguar Racing,” Bird said. “Through their MobilityScience™ platform they bring a new materials science expertise that will help set our team up to win throughout the season.”

Dow science, know-how, and people work closely with partners and customers to create materials that enable a low-carbon economy – where lighter weight, longer range, enhanced safety, and reduced energy consumption are the ultimate objectives. Dow and Jaguar Racing’s partnership allows engineers to use the track as a real-world testing ground for electric vehicle technologies designed for a low-carbon future.

“Congratulations to Sam, Mitch and the entire Jaguar Racing team on a fantastic start to the season, and an exciting beginning to our journey together. Our partnership with Jaguar Racing is based on shared values and vision for the future, one with sustainability at the forefront and energy efficiency driving mobility innovation,” said Tim Boven, global growth platform director for Dow MobilityScience™. “With ongoing collaboration through our MobilityScience™ platform this vision can start to become a reality. We look forward to the rest of the season and our next win.”

The benefits of this partnership extend beyond the racetrack to the transportation industry, with the ability to develop innovative technologies and accelerate widespread adoption of vehicle electrification to help auto manufacturers meet evolving consumer trends. Dow’s transportation solutions include a wide range of polyolefin, polyurethane, acrylic, specialty chemical and silicone technologies for electric vehicles available through the MobilityScience™ platform. The third race of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship takes to the streets of Rome on April 10, 2021.
