DALLAS, January 5, 2020 /3BL Media/ Call for Entries are now open for the 2021 edition of EarthxFilm, which will be a hybrid virtual and in-person/drive-in presentation in Dallas, Texas, April 16-25. Celebrating Its 5th year, EarthxFilm will once again showcase films, augmented and virtual reality and emerging media that explore conservation, climate change, and the environment while honoring the heroes working to protect the planet.

Next year, EarthxFilm will build upon the success of this year’s virtual film festival as well as the development and growth of EarthxTV, as it also plans to take the first steps toward welcoming film audiences back into the theater. The film festival’s mission, led by co-Founder/President Michael Cain and Artistic Director David Holbrooke, has been further galvanized by the pandemic and the response to it as they continue to build the bridges between the act of screening films to actively work toward turning awareness into action through art and media.

EarthxFilm will once again give away a total of $20,000 in prize money to award winners selected by juried competition as well as audience determination. Those awards also include the film festival’s unique Earth Catalyst Award and Impact Award, which is given to the subjects and causes that the winning films highlight or introduce audiences to via their screenings at the film festival.

Holbrooke said, “While this has been a year like no other, we also know that our planet’s air, water and biodiversity continue to be enormously threatened. The filmmakers out there in the environmental space are going to keep making the movies that bring us stories that both disturb and inspire us to be better stewards of the earth.”

Cain added, “This year could easily have been a year to retreat in the face of the limitations, struggles and crises presented by the pandemic. However, if any festival needed to innovate to overcome these roadblocks to connect storytellers and subjects to audiences, EarthxFilm needed to be that fest. We did that through not just being satisfied to present our screenings and Q&As online, but to add additional virtual experiences to the mix, to effectively give audiences as much of a feeling of our unique and wonderful film festival as we could on EarthxTV. Now, we will take the lessons learned in 2020 to build an even better and more impactful EarthxFilm experience for 2021.”
