CLEVELAND, Ohio, June 25, 2015 /3BL Media/ – On Wednesday, June 24, more than 1,100 Forest City associates nationwide participated in the company's 12th annual Community Day, a paid day of service benefitting non-profit organizations in many of the cities where the company has a presence. This year, associates from more than 60 Forest City locations came together to provide much needed help to charities and agencies that provide critical services in our communities.

"Since 2004, Community Day has been an opportunity for Forest City associates to come together and demonstrate commitment to our core values," said David J. LaRue, Forest City president and chief executive officer. "Community involvement that enhances the vitality of the communities where we live and work is fundamental to our commitment to corporate citizenship."

Associates at Forest City's regional offices and properties across the country select local organizations to serve on Community Day, and then coordinate with those organizations to identify priority project needs. Efforts are guided by associates who serve as site organizers, spending countless hours working with the agencies and local vendors to ensure a successful day's work.

For example, in the Cleveland area, this year's Community Day benefited Hospice of the Western Reserve, New Avenues to Independence, Oak Leadership Institute, St. Herman’s Orthodox House of Hospitality, Urban Community School and Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

"Many of our associates volunteer throughout the year, but Community Day is special because we join together as an organization for a shared experience that makes a positive and lasting impact in our communities," said Andy Passen, executive vice president of Human Resources for Forest City.

Forest City also partners with other companies that provide supplies and materials needed to complete the various projects undertaken on Community Day.  This year, those valued suppliers include Sherwin-Williams, Davey Tree, Brickman and Grainger, among others.
