NEW YORK, November 16, 2021 /3BL Media/ - The International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and Global Green today announced a collaboration focused on supporting local leaders as they seek to deploy solutions that advance well-being for both people and planet. The two organizations will work together on the development of tools and resources that help cities adopt leading policies and programs that can better advance health and sustainability across municipal buildings, operations and planning.

“Together with Global Green, we are propelling change at the city level to maximize efforts to improve human and planetary health,” said Rachel Hodgdon, President and CEO of IWBI. “We know the compounding effects of climate change, and we know the toll of these threats on human health. Because we experience them together, we must address them together. I am eager to begin tackling this important work with Global Green.”

The partnership will empower city and county leaders across the country with specific strategies and solutions to better leverage their city’s buildings, public spaces and programs to advance health, well-being and social equity. The collaboration will also focus on helping cities model leadership by example, specifically with opportunities to deliver more thoughtful and intentional spaces that can enhance human health and well-being using the WELL Building Standard. Global Green will also leverage its unique expertise to provide input on IWBI’s ongoing efforts to improve city-level best practices to promote the creation of safer, healthier spaces to navigate a people-first, equitable recovery from COVID-19.

“We are thrilled to be working with the International WELL Building Institute to reframe the picture for how cities lead on health and human sustainability,” said William Bridge, CEO of Global Green. “With wildfires on the rise, natural disasters skyrocketing and acute health threats looming – all while we recover from an historic pandemic – there is an urgent need to better address the places where we spend our time. IWBI’s WELL Standard is transforming the market, delivering on buildings that advance human health, equity and resilience. Now, through this partnership, we are poised to empower local leaders who are embracing this next leadership challenge to bridge human health and planetary health.”

The partnership will also highlight how innovative existing program and policy solutions are being used to date to showcase progress across the local government sector.
