HOUSTON and CLEARWATER, Fla., Feb. 20, 2013 / 3BL Media /PRNewswire/ -- CITGO Petroleum Corporation and local CITGO Marketer J.H. Williams Oil Company recently recognized Community Learning Center as one of the latest Fueling Good winners. The Florida non-profit has locations across the state that offer academic tutoring, human rights education and life skills training to help children and adults become well-educated so that they can make competent and well-informed decisions in life. The Fueling Good award, $5,000 in CITGO Gift Cards, will be used to cover transportation costs associated with getting the Community Learning Center's students to their tutoring sessions.

"As with many non-profits, a great deal of the funding comes from our administrators and volunteers. This generous award from CITGO and J.H. Williams will give us the flexibility to allocate more resources to expanding our services and our facilities for the community," said Lynn Posyton, a member of Community Learning Center's advisory board. "It will also alleviate the burden that has fallen on the shoulders of the generous tutors and administrators who give so much of themselves to support the organization's goals and the people we serve."

The Community Learning Center was founded in 1998 with the simple but powerful idea that active, informed and trained citizens working closely with local schools and classroom teachers, can affect change. What began as a small location in Clearwater has expanded into a network with five additional affiliate organizations throughout Florida assisting approximately 700 students each year.

"We are thrilled to join CITGO in recognizing Community Learning Center and all of the wonderful work it does for its students in Clearwater and across the state of Florida," said Hulon Williams, president of J.H. Williams Oil Company, Inc.

Over the past four years, CITGO has donated more than a million miles of good to more than 200 local heroes and non-profit organizations through its Fueling Good program. In the latest campaign, an all-time record of more than 300,000 votes were cast to determine the 12 winning 501(c)(3) organizations.
