Kingsey Falls, October 31, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Bernard, Laurent and Alain Lemaire, founders of Cascades, won the Lifetime Achievement award at the 20th edition of the Ernst & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year awards. The three brothers were honoured for their significant contribution to the Quebec economy, for their status as influential business people and for their commitment to making a better world.

The intent of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year awards over the past 20 years has been to highlight the exceptional diversity of talent and courage of local entrepreneurs. The jury, which is made up of several well-known entrepreneurs and former winners, also presents an award to a key figure who has made a sustainable contribution to the business world in Canada and who has been a source of inspiration for future generations of entrepreneurs. All three Lemaire brothers were honoured together this year because they are inseparable.

They were honoured for Cascades’s international reach, for being the first Quebec entrepreneurs to promote recycling and recovery, and for demonstrating strong human values centred on sustainable development and respect for the environment and people. Their novel approach to human resources management as well as their community involvement and strong innovation capacity were also recognized.

“I am very pleased to receive such an honour from Ernst & Young, who are very familiar with entrepreneurs and their businesses. Few companies are in contact with and support as many key players in our economy as you—and that is why we are especially proud. Cascades will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, and the award received today serves as a milestone that invites us to consider all that has been accomplished and to look forward to the future with optimism,” said Alain Lemaire, cofounder of Cascades.

Cascades would like to congratulate all the recipients and finalists of the 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.
