WASHINGTON, July 16, 2014 /3BL Media/ - RFK Stadium is the setting on July 19 where residents can responsibly recycle outdated, unused and older electronics products, including TVs, monitors, cell phones and more. Co-sponsored by LG Electronics USA, Vintage Tech Recyclers, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and Safe Kids Worldwide, this service is free-of-charge for Washington-area residents.

The electronics recycling event will be held Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at RFK Stadium, 2400 E. Capitol St. SE, Parking Lot 3 (Corner of E. Capitol and 19th streets, NE).  Residents are encouraged to stay in their vehicles; Vintage Tech Recyclers personnel and volunteers will assist in unloading material.

To help assure responsible recycling for consumers, the LG Electronics Recycling Program works with e-Stewards-certified recyclers, like Vintage Tech Recyclers, which is an e-Stewards, R2, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certified electronics recycling company. Vintage Tech provides IT asset management, responsible recycling solutions, and hard drive security in their facilities nationally.

According to LG Electronics USA Vice President John Taylor, by recycling old electronic products, useful materials such as glass, plastic and metal can be re-used in the manufacture of other products. “Recycling electronics minimizes the amount of hazardous waste in the landfills and extraction of new raw materials from the earth. LG encourages consumers to replace older TVs and computer monitors with new ENERGY STAR® certified models, which helps them save energy and money while addressing climate change. Life’s good when you live green,” he said.
