DENVER, Oct. 17, 2014 /3BL Media/ – As momentum continues to build for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s “ENERGY STAR Change the World Tour,” LG Electronics USA has partnered with The Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (DHA) as the exclusive ENERGY STAR Technology provider for tomorrow’s tour stop here at the Mulroy Opportunity Center.

This is part of LG’s role as official sponsor of the Change the World Tour, a month-long nationwide effort that brings together public and private organizations to make a positive difference in people’s lives through a range of community service projects focused on energy-efficiency improvements. The theme of the tour is the Power of Positive Energy.

“Through this tour, our ENERGY STAR program and partners are making a difference in local communities through energy efficiency service projects that will save money and energy, while cutting harmful pollution and combating climate change,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “EPA is working with private sector organizations and companies to improve the quality of life for families across the country through energy efficiency projects.”

In addition to its key role in the Oct. 18 Denver tour stop, LG is providing its award-winning energy-efficient home appliances and consumer electronics products for multiple tour stops along the way – from the tour’s Oct. 3 event in Boston (Worcester, Mass.) led by National Grid to the tour’s final stop on ENERGY STAR Day, Oct. 28, involving energy-efficiency upgrades to a Phoenix veteran’s housing facility, led by Arizona Public Service.

“LG’s leading role in the tour exemplifies our strong commitment to fighting climate change and promoting environmental sustainability, in large part by providing products with superior energy

efficiency,” said William Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics USA. “As a long-time ENERGY STAR partner, we are honored to have the opportunity to once again share our commitment to energy-efficiency by joining EPA’s latest effort to harness the Power of Positive Energy across the country. Life’s good when you live green.”

As the exclusive technology provider for the milestone Oct. 18 tour stop in Denver, LG is joining forces with fellow ENERGY STAR partner Xcel Energy Colorado and the DHA as they celebrate the completion of a massive energy efficiency overhaul of more than 3,000 multi-family and single-family homes.

At the event – led by Xcel Energy in partnership with the DHA, Energy Outreach Colorado and Group 14 Engineering – a number of DHA residents will receive ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2014 washing machines and ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2014 HDTVs from LG Electronics, cutting edge products that deliver superior energy efficiency without sacrificing performance or style.

“We’re excited to work with LG Electronics for this growing movement to highlight the benefits of energy efficiency within DHA communities,” said Chris Jedd, portfolio energy manager at the Denver Housing Authority. “With the support from both the public sector and private corporations like LG and other partners, the residents are more comfortable, we have new equipment in throughout our portfolio, and we’ll recoup the cost in energy savings over time.”

The Change the World tour culminates in Phoenix, on ENERGY STAR Day, Oct. 28, where among other energy-saving upgrades, a giant-screen LG ENERGY STAR Most Efficient HDTV will be installed as the centerpiece of the homeless veterans’ rec room.
