MADISON, Wis., May 7, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Schenk Elementary students picked out a free book on Friday, May 1 when Bess the Book Bus stopped at their school, courtesy of CITGO and Francois Oil, which operates 13 CITGO branded locations throughout Southern Wisconsin.

Bess the Book Bus is a mobile literacy outreach program founded in 2002 by Jennifer Frances in honor of her grandmother, Bess O'Keefe. Frances now travels the country in the bus, handing out free books to children who have never owned a book of their own to help spread the joy of reading.

“Giving back to our community and working with our partner CITGO is an important part of our mission at Francois Oil,” said Ed Francois, general manager of Francois Oil. “We all know how important it is for children to begin reading at an early age to chart a course for future success.  We look forward to bringing Bess the Book Bus to Madison and giving kids at Schenk an extra boost on the way to a bright future.”

CITGO Petroleum Corporation is one of the main sponsors of Bess the Book Bus as part of its larger Fueling Good initiative, designed to give back to the communities the company serves through local civic and charitable engagement.
