October 8, 2015 /3BL Media/ - The American Red Cross Southeast Mississippi Chapter has recognized Beau Rivage Resort & Casino as its most valued corporate partner of the year. The Red Cross presented Beau Rivage the 2015 Corporate Partnership Appreciation Award at its annual meeting in September. The service area covers 28 counties and six area offices in Mississippi. Community Affairs Manager Missy Dombrowski accepted the award on behalf of Beau Rivage.

“Beau Rivage was selected as this year’s Corporate Partner of the Year in recognition of the support the Beau has given to the American Red Cross Southeast Mississippi Chapter in a number of ways, from board leadership and employee volunteer work, to the support for the Red Cross RendezVIEW and, for the past seven years, the Moonlight & Magnolias Gala, which is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Red Cross Southeast Mississippi Chapter Executive Director John McFarland. “Together the Red Cross and Beau Rivage have raised more than a half-million dollars for this chapter with this event alone. We know the Beau doesn’t do these things just for recognition, but we value the relationship so highly we want to recognize and honor MGM Resorts and Beau Rivage for all that they do for our community.”

Beau Rivage underwrites 100 percent of the cost of the Moonlight & Magnolias event which is held annually inside the resort’s Magnolia Ballroom.  This “Dancing with the Stars” themed event pairs local community leaders with professional dance instructors.  Like the hit television series, the participants practice for weeks before performing on the big night.  The event has become so popular, there is a waiting list of people who want to participate as a ‘celebrity’ dancer.  The 2015 event raised more than $98,000 for the Southeast Mississippi Chapter.

In addition to the elite Corporate Partnership Appreciation Award, the Red Cross presented Beau Rivage with a certificate for being one of the top givers for the Ready365 Giving Program.  As a Gold Level ($50,000+) sponsor, Beau Rivage helps insure the Southeast Mississippi Chapter is ready to provide shelter, medical necessities, lifesaving skills training, and other aid to the community 365 days a year.

The American Red Cross has responded to disaster areas for more than 130 years, making it the oldest and largest humanitarian aid organization in the world. Over the past year, the American Red Cross of Southeast Mississippi Chapter responded to a multitude of flooding and tornado events, as well as victims of more than 600 house fires and almost 600 Service to Armed Forces cases. On the heels of the Hurricane Katrina 10 Year Anniversary, it’s another reminder not only of the role the American Red Cross played in Katrina recovery, but the importance of continual disaster preparedness training.  Chapter volunteers and staff must be ready for the next big disaster before it strikes.  Beau Rivage and the Red Cross have worked together for more than a decade to insure the Chapter can fulfill its mission to render aid to the community when needed.  Beau Rivage proudly supports the Red Cross in their mission to provide comfort and hope when it is needed most.
