Campaign: Energy Efficiency

WALTHAM, Mass., October 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 2016 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard  yesterday, and once again, National Grid’s service area in three states —Mass., R.I. and N.Y.—all were ranked among the top ten for energy efficiency.  Massachusetts ranked number one for the sixth year in a row, with Rhode Island coming in fourth and New York jumping ahead from ninth to the fifth spot.

“National Grid is proud to serve communities and customers who are exemplary leaders in energy efficiency,” said Dean Seavers, president of National Grid US. “These are exactly the kind of working relationships that must happen across the energy supply chain to realize a clean energy future."

The ACEEE also named Rhode Island and Massachusetts as top states with utility-sector energy-efficiency programs and policies. National Grid played its part, providing energy efficiency services across its service territory that translated to huge savings:

  • The electric energy efficiency programs saved enough energy to power 160,669 homes for one year
  • The gas energy efficiency programs saved enough energy to heat the equivalent of 34,126 homes for one year
  • The greenhouse gas emissions reductions achieved by the energy efficiency programs are equivalent to removing 128,140 cars off the road
