(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) August 23, 2011 - Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada's Export Credit Agency, has issued its seventh Annual Report on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This year the report is integrated with the EDC Annual Report - a new development in CSR reporting that presents information on CSR in both places.

“This year, greater integration between our CSR and corporate Annual Reports is a reflection that CSR is not only firmly embedded in EDC’s business activities, but also in its corporate strategy,” said Jim McArdle, Senior Vice-President, Legal Services and Corporate Secretary of EDC, who is responsible for CSR at EDC.

The CSR report highlights EDC's new Environmental and Social Risk Management Framework for managing environmental and social risks. The framework was released in November 2010 and includes a commitment to increase disclosure of information about projects with greater potential for environmental and social impacts.

Other key achievements during the year include:
- built capacity in mining sector to understand CSR requirements for mining projects and the benefits it can offer;
- expanded its Beyond Exports partnership with CARE Canada to cover the sub-Saharan Africa (Zambia) in addition to Latin America (Peru); and
- increased the engagement of its Board of Directors on CSR issues.

To reduce EDC’s operational footprint, this detailed report is only available online.
