May 22, 2014 /3BL Media/ - FedEx is pleased to announce its FY13 Global Citizenship Report, “Global Connections,” now available at csr.fedex.com. The report, in its sixth year of publication, tracks the company’s efforts to connect the world in responsible and resourceful ways in four key areas:

Economics & Access
For more than 40 years, FedEx has enabled global economic activity by connecting people and businesses all over the world. In FY13, it expanded service to countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Europe. FedEx aims to help businesses grow and have trained more than 65,000 business owners to date through the FedEx Know and GrowSM program. As a result, independent businesses attending these programs reported sales increases up to $772,000 within 6 months.

Environment & Efficiency
FedEx focuses on reducing its environmental footprint by finding more efficient ways to do business. FedEx Express has increased fuel efficiency by 5%, increasing fuel efficiency improvements to 27% from 2005 levels (goal: 30% improvement by 2020). FedEx also reduced its aircraft CO2 emissions by 4.2% while increasing business activity.

Community & Disaster Relief
FedEx understands its role is greater than the services it provides. In FY13, the company donated $46.51 million in charitable giving, including team member donations of $9.4 million. FedEx also provided 7 million pounds of charitable shipping, including shipments to victims of Typhoon Haiyan; Moore, Okla. Tornado; and Superstorm Sandy. FedEx assisted American Red Cross, Direct Relief, Heart to Heart International, The Salvation Army and United Way to provide supplies and helping hands.

People & Workplace
The single thread that binds FedEx citizenship efforts is its people. The company offers countless training opportunities, classes and development programs to help our team members succeed personally and professionally. As a result, in FY13, full-time U.S. retention rate rose to 93.2%, compared to 91.7% in FY12, with a global rate increase of 1.4%.
