Merck has published its seventh Corporate Responsibility Report, covering the years 2013 and 2014. It is available online at www.merckgroup.com/cr-report2014.
At Merck, responsible conduct is embedded in its fundamental principles of corporate governance and is an integral element of the company’s corporate strategy. In this vein, Merck meets global challenges in a variety of ways, such as by improving access to health especially in low- and middle-income countries, by developing sustainable products, by combating the neglected tropical disease schistosomiasis in Africa, by engaging in climate protection activities, and by promoting workforce diversity.
Merck has prepared its Corporate Responsibility Report for 2014 for the first time in accordance with the comprehensive option of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 guidelines. The report also documents the company’s progress in implementing the principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
Merck is a leading company for innovative, top-quality high-tech products in healthcare, life science and performance materials. The company has six businesses – Merck Serono, Consumer Health, Allergopharma, Biosimilars, Merck Millipore and Performance Materials – and generated sales of around € 11.3 billion in 2014. Around 39,000 employees work for Merck in 66 countries to improve the quality of life for patients, to further the success of customers, and to help meet global challenges. Merck is the world’s oldest pharmaceutical and chemical company – since 1668, the company has stood for innovation, business success and responsible entrepreneurship.
