BAM’s policy regarding CSR focusses on promoting safe working conditions and safety awareness throughout the entire construction process, reduction of its carbon footprint, and improving the efficient use of materials.

In 2012 BAM has reduced its Incident Frequency (the relationship between the accidents and number of hours worked), its carbon footprint, and its construction and office waste. In its 2012 Sustainability report, the construction company illustrates how it uses innovation to embed sustainability in the organization.

  • BAM reported its consumption of resources (concrete, timber, asphalt, bricks and steel) and the applied recycled content for the second year, showing increased recycled concrete content.
  • BAM calculated potable water use from construction sites and offices. BAM consumed 147,000 m3 water in the Netherlands (2011:128,000 m3). Further, BAM extracted about 9.2 million m3 water for construction drainage.
