In addition to statements from top State Street executives, including Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph L. Hooley, the report has five main sections:

Accountability and Transparency — State Street is steadfast in conducting itself ethically, honestly and with integrity at all times, as well as ensuring transparency and long-term sustainability through systems, procedures and oversight.

Business Excellence — Being viewed by clients as the most reliable and responsible financial services provider drives the way State Street does business, the products and services they deliver, and the collaborations that are fostered.

Environmental Sustainability — State Street’s environmental practices strive to significantly improve their ability to attract and retain clients, efforts to operate more cost-effectively and long-term sustainability.

Human Capital — State Street’s goal is to foster a culture that gives employees the freedom to build a rewarding career and develop invaluable skills along the way.

Citizenship — Continually mobilizing resources and workforce to actively engage in the communities where State Street operates makes a greater impact on the world and improves their reputation.

New for 2012, State Street has added the “Making Life Better” website and report to the suite of communications focused on promoting CR efforts. Both are designed to keep all their stakeholders, as well as the media, up to date on its progress in terms of philanthropy, sustainability, volunteerism, diversity and inclusion, and more. The interactive website features State Street’s latest CR efforts, as well as volunteer profiles and a live feed to State Street’s Twitter handle (@StateStreet), and the supplementary report will highlight themes throughout the year.
