Rock Health Sponsors Showcase for Digital Health Startups; Global Center for Health Innovation to Open in Cleveland - Health Minute for March 6, 2013
Fourteen startups presented their ideas on how to transform and improve healthcare in the U.S. at a recent event sponsored by Rock Health. Rock Health is a startup accelerator focused on the intersection of healthcare and technology. Rock Health, founded in 2010 as the first accelerator program for health startups, provides digital health entrepreneurs with mentorship, funding, and other resources to get them up and running. It currently has 49 portfolio companies, which have collectively raised over $43 million in funding from a list of prestigious investors.
The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society is launching an interoperability innovation center in Cleveland’s Global Center for Health Innovation. The HIMSS Innovation Center will include an IT “ecosystem” for testing, demonstrating, and validating new interoperability applications. Exhibits in such fields as mobile devices, consumer-driven healthcare and evidence-based care will also be displayed in the new Center. The Center is planned to open this October.
