Demand for Certification Services Strengthens Despite Pandemic

EMERYVILLE, Calif. , February 25, 2021 /3BL Media/ - SCS Global Services, an international pioneer and leader in sustainability standards development and third-party certification of environmental, social, safety and quality performance, is proud to announce the addition of five new experts to its senior management staff. Industry veterans Carey Allen, Henning Bloech, Jenny Oorbeck, Vik Ahuja and Tom Ehart have joined the fold, each enriching SCS with decades of experience as the company continues its rapid growth trajectory.

Carey Allen, an experienced business leader in the food safety and quality certification arena, is SCS’ new Vice President and Managing Director for its Food and Agriculture division where she will lead operations related to food safety, quality, social responsibility, and sustainable agriculture production verification services. Ms. Allen comes to SCS from NSF International, where she led the global Supply Chain Food Safety Certification division and most recently served as the Senior Managing Director for Product Certification division. Ms. Allen has extensive experience in the development and implementation of product certification programs and food safety management systems, with a strong background in food manufacturing quality and product development, having worked for many years with leading brands, including Gorton’s Seafood and Kraft-Oscar Mayer Foods. Ms. Allen is the proud alum of three land grant universities: University of Idaho, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Michigan State University, and she holds graduate degrees in both food science and management strategy.

Henning Bloech comes on board as SCS’ new Executive Director of European operations, where he will focus on scaling up SCS’ client engagement and Europe-tailored service portfolio. Mr. Bloech’s career has been dedicated to moving businesses towards more sustainable and healthier products and processes. Before joining SCS, he was Global Sustainability Director for INVISTA Performance Surfaces and Materials, helped start the GreenGuard Environmental Institute, served as Commercial Director of Building Performance Programs for UL Environment, and launched his own sustainability consulting agency, Sustaineer Consulting. Mr. Bloech earned his master’s degree from Georg August University in Göttingen, Germany, is a LEED Accredited Professional, an Alliance for Water Stewardship Accredited Specialist, and a member of the WELL® Materials Advisory.

Jenny Oorbeck has joined the team as the Executive Director of SCS Consulting, the business solutions arm of SCS Global Services focused on guiding companies to continuously improve their sustainability performance. She brings a wealth of experience to the job related to the management and implementation of sustainability and climate services in both the public and private sectors across a wide range of industries, such as waste management, energy and textiles. This experience includes prior leadership positions as General Manager of Sustainability for NSF International, Program Director for the Clean Energy Coalition, and Environmental Manager for the City of Richmond. Ms. Oorbeck holds a graduate degree in the field of natural resources and environment, with an emphasis in resource policy.

SCS welcomes Vik Ahuja as SCS’ Director of Sales and Marketing in the Environmental Certification Services division. Trained in environmental studies with an MBA in Green Business, Mr. Ahuja has built his career around advancing the mission of sustainability-minded businesses, including a deep knowledge of the demands of third-party certification. He has headed business development and sales in industries as broad as the automotive, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, logistics and building products industry sectors, in positions with Thinkstep, Sphera Solutions, the GreenGuard Environmental Institute, and more.

Tom Ehart rounds out the suite of new senior executive hires as SCS’ Corporate Marketing Director. Mr. Ehart brings a steady hand to the job of overseeing internal and external corporate marketing and communications, with a proven track record of garnering significant earned media and high-visibility brand awareness, networking, and facilitating the communication of cutting edge thought leadership. He formerly provided marketing leadership for companies such as Blue Pillar, an energy IoT software solutions firm, Bloomberg BNA Tax and Accounting, ISS Corporate Services focused on corporate governance, and MarketResearch.com. At a time when SCS is expanding its influence across the globe through comprehensive certification and standards development service offerings, and continued innovation to advance sustainability performance, Mr. Ehart will be working to ensure that information about these services and solutions is shared broadly.
