Gaithersburg, Md., April 4, 2013/ 3BL Media/ - Sodexo and Meals on Wheels for Western New York served a staggering 3,576 meals to homebound seniors in the Buffalo, New York region today.

Sodexo produces these critical meals every day and volunteered to assist with delivery to clients this day in honor of National Volunteer Month.  Additional Sodexo employees from outside of the local area traveled here to join in the effort, some bringing youth volunteers along to help raise their awareness.

“Sodexo employees have supported the fight against hunger in Buffalo communities for more than 20 years,” said George Chavel, president and CEO, Sodexo. “I’m proud to stand with them today as we kick-off Servathon, Sodexo’s month of service to combat hunger.”

Meals on Wheels for Western New York serves more than 3,500 in-need clients each year, helping seniors and disabled individuals enjoy the highest level of independence possible.  This wouldn’t be possible without the assistance of more than 1,500 dedicated volunteers.
