Southwest is accepting applications from hospitals and medical transportation charities to participate in the airline’s 2013 grant program. Though its program, Southwest donates roundtrip airline tickets for distribution to patients who must travel for treatment.
The APPA, an association for higher educational facility professionals, has named the recipients of its first Sustainability Awards. The five winners are the University of British Columbia; the University of California-Irvine; Emory University; American University; and the University of Prince Edward Island. The new Sustainability Awards measure the level and effort of a facilities management department and its integration with the academic curriculum.
NativeEnergy has calculated the CO2 emissions for the Sustainable Brands Conference held last June in San Diego. Carbon offsets from projects in Iowa, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania were donated to counter the carbon footprint of the event.
