(3BL Media) Cherry Hill, NJ -- July 27, 2012 -- Mount Washington Observatory’s Seek the Peak fundraiser broke a new record on Saturday, topping $250,000 in donations and sponsorship support. The 12th annual event was the single most successful fundraiser in the 80-year history of the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory.

“Subaru has been a proud partner of Mount Washington Observatory for 20 years,” said Subaru Sponsorships and Promotions Manager Todd Lawrence.  “We are even more proud to witness this record breaking fundraising endeavor.”

Each year Mount Washington Observatory hosts Seek the Peak, a signature fundraiser involving a challenge trek to the top Mount Washington.  Seek the Peak has raised more than $1,150,000 over its twelve year history, supporting the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory’s work in weather observation, research and education.

“Subaru has been with us since our very first mountain climb,” says Observatory Executive Director Scot Henley. “Their support of this event and their two decades of support for our organization have been absolutely critical to our mission.”

The Subaru brand's longest running sponsorship is the Mount Washington Observatory. Subaru is the "Official Car" of the Mount Washington Observatory. In addition to Seek the Peak, Subaru also sponsors an educational program series at the Observatory called Subaru Science in the Mountains.

“Our Subaru owners share our passion for the environment, education and sports,” added Lawrence.  “We know they are also proud of our decades of work with this amazing organization.”
