Survey Says Aflac is Once Again a Fortune’s Most Admired Company

18 years on annual list show how Aflac isn’t a company that takes service and value for granted

COLUMBUS, Ga., March. 11, 2019 /3BL Media/ – Aflac today announced that it is once again included on Fortune’s list of the World’s Most Admired Companies for 2019. With this 18th year of being voted onto this prestigious list by industry peers, the supplemental insurance company has once again demonstrated that Aflac isn’t a company that takes customer service and shareholder value for granted.

To compile their annual list, Fortune collaborated with their partner Korn Ferry on a survey of corporate reputation. They began with a universe of about 1,500 candidates: the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue, along with non-U.S. companies on Fortune’s Global 500 database that have revenues of $10 billion or more. They then winnowed the assortment to the 680 highest-revenue companies in each industry across 30 countries. The top-rated companies were selected from that pool of 680. Executives who work at the companies in that group voted to compile the final list.

To determine the best-regarded companies in 52 industries, Korn Ferry asked executives, directors and analysts to rate enterprises in their own industry on nine criteria, from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent. A company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey to be listed.

“Holding a position on this prestigious list reflects how leaders from a variety of industries have placed Aflac among the top 50 percent of all the companies that met the stringent requirements just to be included in the study. That means experts view Aflac to be among the best of the best, an accomplishment for which we are immensely proud,” Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos said. “The fact that we have appeared on this list an amazing 18 times reflects a consistency that our policyholders, shareholders and the general public in both the United States and Japan appreciate, knowing that they can trust Aflac to be there for them as promised.”

In 2018, Aflac continued its commitment to its innovative One Day PaySM program, which enables Aflac to process, approve and electronically send funds to claimants for quick access to cash in just one business day. The company further demonstrated its philanthropic spirit with My Special Aflac Duck™, a new, innovative, comforting robot that helps children cope with cancer treatments. Aflac has invested more than $3 million to date in providing My Special Aflac Ducks to children across the country, free of charge. More than 2,150 children have received My Special Aflac Ducks since deliveries began in October 2018.
