February 6, 2018 /3BL Media/ - T. Rowe Price Group (NASDAQ-GS: TROW) announced today that the firm’s information security team made financial contributions to two local cybersecurity programs in an effort to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and research specifically in cybersecurity. University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Center for Cybersecurity received $60,000 and Loyola Blakefield received $25,000.

Supporting a local high school as well as a university is another way T. Rowe Price is working to develop and expand the pipeline of talent in the cybersecurity workforce. The partnership with these two Baltimore institutions, which go beyond the financial contributions, will support the development of local talent. T. Rowe Price will be offering Baltimore-based internship and shadowing opportunities to students as well guest lectures on technical topics and career development.

Specifically, T. Rowe Price’s donation to UMBC will support a graduate student working on research relevant to cybersecurity in financial services and will also support undergraduate cybersecurity students through UMBC’s Cyber Scholars Program. The donation to Loyola Blakefield will assist in growing their Cyber Science Informatics initiative which was created five years ago.
