BRONX, N.Y., Sept. 3, 2015 /3BL Media/ – The Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY), the largest not-for-profit home- and community-based healthcare organization in the country, has partnered with New York Restoration Project and CBS EcoMedia to support six community gardens across New York City.

Through CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program, VNSNY has provided funding to support the ongoing maintenance, gardener training and planting bed materials used at New York Restoration Project’s Glover, Pembroke, Clinton, 103rd Street, Seagirt and Decatur gardens in the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan and Brooklyn. This project marks the second round of support that Visiting Nurse Service has provided to NYRP through CBS EcoMedia’s WellnessAd program.

NYRP is a nonprofit committed to enhancing the quality of life in New York City through planting trees, bringing back to life public parks, and revitalizing community gardens. NYRP, along with the Clinton Avenue Block Association, one of the beneficiary gardens, invited Visiting Nurse Service to celebrate their support of the program during the Clinton Avenue Garden’s end-of-summer barbeque event, which included photos, potluck-style lunch and community gathering.

“The Visiting Nurse Service of New York is proud of our partnership with NYRP to support community gardens serving New York City communities with high concentrations of seniors,” says Dominic Mascara, Director of Community Outreach at VNSNY. “We are pleased to celebrate the Garden’s end-of-summer BBQ event with the Clinton Avenue Block Association.”

“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York,” says Amanda Brown, Director of Community Engagement at New York Restoration Project. “Their support allows us to continue our work enhancing social and environmental resiliency in public green spaces throughout New York City.”

“The Visiting Nurse Service of New York demonstrates a renewed commitment to maintaining and supporting New York City’s green spaces which are so critical to the health and wellness of our local community,” said Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of EcoMedia.

About New York Restoration Project

New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization driven by the conviction that all New Yorkers deserve beautiful, high-quality public space within ready walking distance of their homes. Since our founding in 1995 by Bette Midler, NYRP has planted trees, renovated gardens, restored parks, and transformed open space for communities throughout New York City’s five boroughs. As New York’s only citywide conservancy, we bring private resources to spaces that lack adequate municipal support, fortifying the City’s aging infrastructure and creating a healthier environment for those who live in the most densely populated and least green neighborhoods.
