Sheboygan, Wis.,  November 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Local CITGO Marketers in Wisconsin, including Saunders Oil Company, Condon Oil Company, Quality State Oil, Garrow Oil, Van Zeeland Oil, Frawley Oil, US Venture and Lakeside Oil Company, are celebrating another successful year of supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Through several events and in-store promotions across Wisconsin, including last week’s MDA Muscle Team event in Milwaukee, these eight local Marketers have raised more than $444,000 in 2014.

“We are thrilled to support the MDA through campaigns and special fundraising events each year,” said Nathan Denk, marketing and sales coordinator at Lakeside Oil Company, a Wisconsin-based CITGO Marketer. “MDA is such an important organization and we are honored to help in the fight against these diseases.”

This year, Condon Oil Company, Quality State Oil and Saunders Oil Company held their annual golf outings across the state, featuring prize raffles and live and silent auctions. MDA Muscle Team events hosted by Condon Oil, Frawley Oil, US Venture, and Lakeside Oil also drew local, state and national athletes together to support the cause.  Garrow Oil held its inaugural Toast to Life Gala in Appleton, where 170 attendees enjoyed beverage tastings and live auctions.

All the funds raised during these events support programs for local Wisconsin families living with neuromuscular diseases. The money supports MDA research, physical therapy consultations, support groups, care programs and sends local children to the MDA summer camp.

“We have worked with the MDA for a long time and are proud to support an organization that is dedicated to finding a cure for people afflicted with muscle diseases,” said Alan Flagg, assistant vice president of supply and marketing at CITGO. “The success of fundraising events like these held in Wisconsin is due to Marketers, employees, customers and community members who dedicate their time and money to support this worthwhile cause.”

MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat muscular dystrophy through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education. CITGO is the largest corporate sponsor for MDA, raising more than $170 million over the past 28 years through its network of independent Marketers, employees and corporate contributions.
