Accenture Grants $3.6M for Thai Jobs; Ceres Offers New Online Tool for Supply Chain Sustainability; Network for Business Sustainability Presents Workshop - CSR Minute for September 14, 2012

Accenture and the Accenture Foundation have granted $3.6 million dollars to Plan International to help 7,000 disadvantaged young adults in Thailand and Indonesia develop the skills necessary to find employment. The grant, part of Accenture’s global corporate citizenship initiative, Skills to Succeed, brings Accenture’s direct support to Plan International to more than $5.5 million dollars since 2011.

Ceres has published an online tool to help companies measure supply chain sustainability. The Supplier Self-Assessment Questionnaire, SAQ, is specifically designed for the industrial goods sector, but is useful for all companies to strengthen their supply chain engagement. The free tool guides a dialogue between companies and suppliers to identify, assess, manage, and disclose supply chain sustainability risks.

The Network for Business Sustainability will present a workshop for mid- to senior-level managers on innovating for sustainability. The session will present the latest research in what leading companies are doing to create new products, experiment with energy and waste reduction systems, and collaborate with unconventional partners. The half-day workshop will take place on October 30th in Toronto.
