Amway reports that the direct marketing company helped 1.5 million children through 200,000 volunteer hours and $25 million in donations in 2011. The contributions also included $4.4 million given in disaster relief to Japanese residents following last year’s earthquake and tsunami.
A new, free, Web-based tool from UL Environment, a business unit of Underwriters Laboratories, will help manufacturers assess their corporate sustainability efforts. Part of UL Environment’s Sustainability Quotient Program, the tool provides an overall benchmark of sustainability progress.
Spectra Energy has released an integrated 2011 Sustainability Report. The bi-annual document offers detailed descriptions of the company’s commitment to operating in an economically, environmentally and socially responsible manner as part of its long-term business strategy.
